About the Author
Jeff Morrison is a historian, writer, and photographer who has been taking pictures since his parents gave him his first camera at age nine. He has followed a thirty-year career in graphic design by starting a new life, one that actually uses his history degree, finding, researching, and documenting the most artistic aspects of the built environment of the Great Lakes State. Jeff's first book, Guardians of Detroit: Architectural Sculpture in the Motor City (Wayne State University Press, 2019), has won multiple awards, including a State History Award from the Historical Society of Michigan, a Midwest Book Award from the Midwest Independent Publishers Association, and a listing as a Michigan Notable Book by the Library of Michigan. Jeff lives in Oxford, Michigan, with his lovely wife Susie and plans to expand his work by exploring, photographing, and writing about architectural sculpture throughout the Great Lakes region. It is his hope that his work will help to raise awareness of our architectural legacy and help build support for historic preservation and adaptive reuse.
